Arkansas Center for Veterinary Orthopedics is owned and operated by Gordon P. McDonald, DVM. The reason we have decided to start this type of practice is that we really enjoy surgery! We hope to provide an answer for general practitioners who do not enjoy surgery, especially orthopedics. We do not wish to replace the board certified specialist, but provide an alternative source for some procedures that are offered by them. Specialists have great skill in a wide variety of procedures that can be done only by them because of their intense training and equipment. We have found that some procedures can be performed by anyone who is willing to make an effort to learn them. We are offering a wide variety of common surgical procedures, and, a few more specialized procedures. We feel that some of these procedures can be done more affordably than by board certified specialists and we are offering these services to those who require them. Dr. McDonald is not board certified by the ACVS, however, he is the only surgeon in Arkansas who is certified to perform the TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) for correction of cranial cruciate injury.

Dr. Gordon McDonald is a general practitioner who recieved his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 2001. He opened Town & Country Veterinary Hospital in July 2001. He was TPLO certified by Slocum Enterprises in April 2004. He is happily married to his wife Lana, has a daughter Hannah, a son Davy, and twins Katie and Daniel born Sept 13th, 2004. He has three French bulldogs: Alfred, Ivy, and Vickie, and Burnese Mountain Dog: Nelson and 4 cats: Bailey, Rex, Max, and Loretta.
